In the early days of the Oneran Empire, the Oneran houses blessed by the Faen were united in purpose and drive, but the tribes known collectively as the Sarka had not received the same blessings and power, and many still lived semi-nomadic lives. The conquest of Oneranus I left many furious. The tensions between the two groups boiled over in 180 AE.

Zoran Kuzents or "Zoran the Cruel," was a Hoksark tribal leader who lead a force to attempt and sack the city of Sizien, a city on a lake downstream from Parthonera. The city is able to defend itself, but comes under siege. Zoran sent a message to the Oneranus II, declaring that the city was theirs and that he could come and take it.   Oneranus enlisted the aid of an entity called The Oracle, A Faen witch with the gift of foresight to contact the deceased soul of his father for aid.   The Young Emperor spoke with the Old in the great hall of the Oneran palace, in view of most of the leaders of the great houses of Onera.   The Hoksark are vanquished in a lightning-fast skirmish lead by Oneranus II a day later. Oneranus II asks the mage-priests of his court to seek wisdom from the dead of the past.
