Longchamps

After a series of fire razed sections of the Lowyard in 830ME, the Count of Swarester County at the time determined that fire fighting was beyond the abilities of the Dayne-on-the-Loch City Watch and allowed duties for fire fighting to be privately performed by organized bands. Several civilian organizations sprung up to fight fires, but after much corruption and several cases of arson, the Count permitted a charter to be formed that became the modern Longchamps Guild. Using bucket brigades and pumps, as well as poles, hooks and even ballistae to tear down buildings in advance of the flames, the Longchamps also occasionally serve as an extension of the City Watch's forces. The current Longchamps are made up of about 500 brave men and women, all ready for action.
