Foreter's Ford

Foreter's Ford is the collective name for the many craftsmen neighborhoods on the east bank of the Kiverwick River in Dayne-on-the-Loch

Industry & Trade

Foreter's Ford is home to several neighborhoods, each with a bevy of different artisans.

The Buckle

The Buckle is the area of the craftsmen's ward where the highest concentration of goldsmiths, jewelers and silversmiths live, as well as the cities bellmakers and engravers. Most smithing that doesn't require an open forge is done here, and while the items are often crafted here, they are often sold elsewhere or to other craftsmen and merchants for resale.    The name of the district comes from the old Bucklemakers Guildhall, before it was combined into the Worshipful Society of Finesmiths that controls the bucklemaking and gold/silver smithing trade.

Cooper's Park

Cooper's park takes it's name from the home of the old Cooper's Guild, a society of barrelmakers that remains on the western edge of the middle neighborhood of the district. In modern times, it is also home to carpenters, plasters and roofers, as well as many craftsmen in the home-building trades.   The old Cooper's Guildhall still has its large open park area, which is often used as a gathering place for many craftsmen who's work brings them together on projects

Lomary Lathe

Lomary Lathe is a craftsmen's neighborhood that is home to many of the cities woodcarvers, carpenters, and furniture makers. The craftsmen of the neighborhood live, create, and sell their goods in the same space, with most of the buildings combination workshop and home.   South Lomary Lathe is home to several of the craftsmen's guilds of the area, including the Wheelwrights Guild and the Wood Workers Guild.

Old Iron

Home to the highest concentration of the cities forgers & smiths, Old Iron is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city. Cutlers, Scabbard Makers, Weaponsmiths, Armorers and Bucklemakers work the open forges of this part of the city, and the wastewater from their work runs via channels downhill towards Tonker's Slope to the east.   On the east side of the neighborhood is "Battlement Row," a boulevard that runs from the cities northern wall south past the Lowyard and towards the Gagecrus Pavil neighborhood of Stonepole ward. This is the site of the cities old boundary and original wall, when the Lowyard was considered a non-habitable ward of sewers, cisterns, and other infrastructural works in the Dark Era.

Pont's Grove

Located on the south end of Foreter's Ford, Pont's Grove is home to the Brewer's Guild, a minor guild of brewers and maizers in the city. Much of the cities brewing is done here. While the neighborhood is quite small, it is also home to the local City Watch Captain for much of the eastern wards.

Tallow Lane

Home to the cities chandlers and soapmakers, as well as other lye and wax base professions, Tallow Lane also houses glassmakers and glaziers. The Chandler's Guild is located here, and they run the business of keeping the streets lit in various neighborhoods at night through The Lamplighters. Locals often pay a monthly fee to ensure their storefronts and streets remain lit, and the Lamplighters charge the city's council based on the number of stubs they collect each month.

Whistling Row

Notable for being the home of one of the wealthiest guilds in the city, the Parchmentiers, Whistling Row is home to the city's paper-makers, bookbinders, and cartographers. If a trade works with paper, they do business here.   As the Parchmentier's guildhall provides housing and workshops for many of the neighborhood's craftsmen, there are many properties in the area that have been renovated for use by scribes, scriveners, and various other draftsmen. Some students of the local university rent lodgings here, often working as scribes, copyists, and clerks for the Guild at minimum rates without offers of guild membership.
