The Five Moons

five moons orbit ephonel, varying dramatically in size, cycle, and color; they hold religious or mythological significance for many different peoples through a collection of religions ascribing a divine or holy element to them, like astresloism or trekism. many cultures and groups have many different names for the moons, however, this can be simplified by discussing them by color rather than by name.   first, there is the light blue moon, the smallest of the 5, and on the quickest cycle, at just 12 days; it is also actively falling apart, with visible cracks in its exterior. second, there is the dark purple moon of medium size on a very long cycle, being visible for one half of the year and vanishing for the rest; it is mostly composed of smooth plains, being unmarred craters. third, there is the moderate-sized deep red moon, orbiting on a longer cycle appearing and disappearing every 60 days; it is dominated by a series of tall plateaus and vast canyons. fourth, there is the slate grey moon, the second largest and with a 35-day orbital cycle; the moon's features are broken up by many wide craters and cracked gorges, winding across its surface. fifth and finally, there is the white moon, just larger than the grey moon it moves on a 30-day cycle and is generally more consistent than any of the others; the moon is also mostly free of craters, being simply cover in gentler valleys and raised mountains.

History

for most of history, the moons have remained relatively consistent however, there have been several disturbances across history. in 1702 the blue moon partially fractured and a group of meteors fell on southeastern calelac and western yevela. this event, known as the rain of glass, caused the fall of the nyoric empire, the rise of the crystalline horde, and the creation of limelelic bulwarks. for a year after this, the blue moon also vanished from the sky for still unknown reasons.
