The Roc Riders of Tepth
The Roc Riders are a specially trained form of cavalry that ride Roc into battle in the name of Tepth. They were originally formed prior to the founding of the Kingdom of Tepth and were instrumental in liberating the country of its former dragon lord rulers. The Riders are versatile and capable of filling any number of different needs that the Grand Army of Tepth might need. They can provide aerial support for ground forces in combat as wells as transporting soldiers to an from the frontlines of conflict.
Composition
Manpower
The Roc Riders number about two hundred actual riders with ten riders stationed at each stable/hatchery. Each stable/hatchery has a standing contingent of a hundred and twenty support staff with each Roc and Rider having a ten person crew assigned to them.
Vehicles
While the Riders do not use any form of vehicles themselves they are considered a mode of transportation for units in the armies of Tepth. Roc are very strong do to their gargantuan size and are capable of carrying huge containers of troops anywhere on the continent of Marquest that Tepth or its allies may need them.
Tactics
As an aerial cavalry unit the Roc Rider employ a variety of different tactics on and above the battlefield. They are known to carry large heavy objects into battle and drop them into the enemies ranks wreaking havoc and devastation in enemy formations on the battlefield.
Training
The Roc themselves have been specifically bred for the changing climate of the seasons. Each Roc and its rider form a special bond as the rider is given his mount shortly before or after the Roc hatches. All Roc Riders must be proficient in some form of ranged combat and also have some previous training in mounts and mounted combat.

There are several stables and hatcheries strategically located across Tepth for quick deployment across the kingdom.
Recruitment
Becoming a Roc Rider is no easy feat. Only the the bravest and most loyal of Tepth's military stand a chance of joining this elite cavalry. Once a person is recruited to join the Riders they receive extensive training in the riding, handling and care of their future mount. Most often recruitment takes place close to when a clutch of eggs is about to hatch. The newly recruited Rider is given and egg or a hatchling to take care of to help ensure a bond is formed between rider and mount.
There has been an occasional exception to the usual recruitment process. In these cases individuals who had performed great services to the Kingdom of Tepth and were granted entry into this elite unit.
History
The Roc Riders were founded in an effort to help liberate the lands that would become the Kingdom of Tepth. The Roc Riders were instrumental in the campaign to bring freedom to the people of this land. This cavalry has remained fully active since the founding of the kingdom and continues to help protect Tepth from threats in the sky most notably and specifically dragons.
