Intergalactic Commerce and Travel

"There are only three things that matter in this world: Wants, needs, and how we attain them,"   -Lavender, Ambrian Head Researcher

Accessibility to Travel

Mass Interplanetary transport is an exclusive commodity throughout the Universe. Very few civilizations are capable of domestic transport on any substantial scale, and as such, most transport between planets is managed by government and business institutions. Any individual or group of Individuals wanting to travel from planet to planet will most likely want to receive sponsorship from a government or business in order to receive a vessel capable of space travel.   An alternative form of transport for individuals, albeit not much cheaper nor in great supply, is the use of teleportation. Automated teleportation technology is still a budding industry, but can still be accessed by the general public for a hefty sum, in order to instantaneously travel from one preset destination to another, as well as back again. This option however is undesirable if the goal is to transport large amounts of cargo, due to the overall volume limit of the teleporter.

Intergalactic Trade and Exchange

Very few establishments on any given planet can afford the ability to trade on an intergalactic level, but those that do are invested heavily in the practice. As trade between planets is otherwise sparse, there is little need for the average person to be able to exchange one planet's currency to another. Within the early stages of interplanetary commerce, a device was invented, known as a Scanner, to be able to convert certain specific materials to another. The device's inventor, a man known as Yin, modified his scanner to be able to convert one currency to another automatically, depending on where in the Universe the scanner was located. Yin marketed and sold this device to companies and governments, enabling them to handily trade among each other as he accrued funds for his own purposes. In modern times, Scanners are a widely available, all-purpose device that see use in a multitude of professions, from craftsmen, to investors, and even adventurers.
