Effect

Hartz is an ability which allows an individual to use their own Soul as a conduit for manipulating the Souls of objects and individuals around them. The effects of Hartz can vary widely depending on the type of Soul the user has. The following are the most well known examples of Hartz:

• Hartz of Diamond: The user is able to absorb as much light around them as possible, even from distant stars. For each source of light, their strength and speed are multiplied exponentially. 

• Sleeping Hartz: The user is able to make anyone within their immediate vicinity fall asleep. The range of this ability is increased for every person who is currently sleeping within its range of effect. The user is also able to make anyone who is sleeping within their range completely invulnerable to all forms of attack for as long as they are under the effect of it. 

• Black Star: The user engulfs a small area around them in an impassable pillar of dark energy. Anything caught in this pillar is put into stasis, and so long as the user remains within its area of effect, can freely manipulate all other objects within it, and even merge solid objects together. 

• White Void: The user locks eyes with a single person, teleporting themselves and their target into a parallel dimension where neither is unable to be hurt. Only the user is able to reverse the effects of this ability and return both themselves and their target back to the real world, however it is impossible for just one individual to remain in the parallel dimension.

• Lovers' Hartz: The user is able to control the levels of affection anyone within their range of influence feels towards anyone else within their range. The potency and range of this ability is increased depending on the amount of affection felt within their range of influence. 

• Hartz of Gold: The user is able to transform the memories of themselves and those around them into grains of sand, transforming the landscape around them into an expansive desert that is impossible to escape, even through paranormal means. Only the user can disable this effect, returning the landscape around them to normal and allowing any affected individuals to leave freely. 

Manifestation

When an individual activates the power of a Hartz, their irises will change into the shape of a colored heart, related to the color of Soul they are manipulating. Additionally, some Harts users will exude visible Soul threads coming off of their body, or coming into their body depending on the type of Hartz it is. This is commonly depicted as a halo of arrows pointing directly at the user as Soul Threads flow through them effortlessly.

Hartz can only be used by individuals who have intimate understanding and control over their own Soul, and particularly are able to create a physical manifestation of their soul in the form of a Soul Thread. This is accomplished when an individual comes to fully understand the fate laid out before them, and to that end, comprehend the full length of their Soul Thread, or life span. It is only when someone fully comprehends where their life is taking them that they are able to change it, consequently gaining control of their Soul Thread and opening the opportunity to utilize the power of Hartz.
