Overview

Candied are a type of ethnicity found exclusively on Planet Candy. On this planet exists a special chemical that exists in much of the plantlife, wildlife, and water supply. Consuming large quantities of this chemical will alter an individual's chemical makeup, increasing their tolerance to sugar, and may also lead to various genetic mutations. Typically, these physical alterations are only experienced if this chemical is consumed at a very young age, and is continued to be consumed for the majority of an individual's early life. Any Species is capable of being Candied, so long as they require nourishment of some kind in order to survive. While this chemical is not particularly enjoyable by non-Candied individuals, it does contain addictive properties, most commonly seen in Candied individuals. It also acts as an incredibly effective medicinal drug when extracted and diluted.

Candied Effects

While any species is capable of becoming Candied, some have unique reactions to the process that alter their genetic makeup entirely. The biggest example is a Candied Ambrian, whose fruits, once Candied, will always be sweet, regardless of what flavor they were before. Sentials experience a similar effect, where their normally acidic fluid becomes edible, taking on a sweet, gelatin like taste and texture.

Candied traditionally say and write their surname before their own name as a tradition. As an example, the royal family of the Candied Empire, the Candy family, are named as follows:

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

Candied believe the ultimate sign of affection is the offering of sweets. Giving a box of chocolates, for example, represents a strong bond between the giver and recipient. If the the recipient wishes to show that they reciprocate these feelings, they will eat the entire contents of the box then and there.

Common Dress code

Candied wear very bright and vibrant outfits, sporting colors from all across the visible spectrum. Due to the available resources on Planet Candy, much of the clothing produced there is edible. Candied armor is typically highly dense and frozen caramel or similar, and other articles of clothing are weaved with various tapestries made out of candy.

Common Taboos

It is severely looked down upon, when given the gift of a sweet treat by a Candied individual, to not eat it in its entirety. Because most Candied make their own sweets, it is often the case that any gift they may give is handmade specifically for that person. Even if the flavor or type of candy is not the recipient's favorite, they are expected to acknowledge the effort one put into making it for them by at least eating it.
