Animals & Beasts: a Horrific Creation

“Is it not ironic that the most repulsive beings in history sought to bring even more horrific creatures into this world?”   -Yin

Overview

In the ancient history of the universe, there was little to no presence of non-sentient species. Virtually every living creature was capable of higher intelligence from the outset of their creation, and only through the labors of a certain species did the development of lower lifeforms come about.   Animairs were a reclusive, intuitive species, which profited off the wars and grudges other species had with one another. Animairs would sell their creations, advanced weapons of war which could wipe out entire settlements to any willing buyer, often selling to both sides of a given confrontation. These genetics based weapons were forged through the use of gene manipulation, a skill which Animair were second to none at. Their first creations were crude, air or food-borne illnesses intended to infect a specific species. Without available treatment, these precursor weapons of the Animair could wipe out entire civilizations overnight. However, once these weapons were administered, they were designed to persist perpetually, continually evolving and mutating over countless years. It is a little known fact that every disease in the universe is a descendant of these ancient weapons designed by the Animairans.   In a similar vein, Animairs sought to disrupt entire ecosystems with their second invention, which became known as Animals. These creatures were designed to naturally encroach on the territory of other species, stealing away resources, altering the landscape, and even acting as a direct threat against their opposition. Using a vast library of DNA, the Animairans developed hundreds of thousands of different types of creatures, using them as tools of war as they too were designed to persist and evolve, regardless of the situation or environmental changes. Much like Disease, Animals continued to spread and thrive throughout the universe, populating virtually every known habitable planet.   Their final invention, however, would prove to be their own undoing. As an ultimatum to their work, Animairs sought to do the unthinkable and create a sentient species. Development of this species was long and tumultuous even from the outset, and met an untimely end when traitor to the entire species sabotaged the project, driving the entire species to extinction and replaced by the new species they toiled to create: Humans.
