Dominion over the Elements

Over the smoldering battlefield rose a luminous figure into the sky. Like a vibrant flare she shone down over the survivors, her soaring shape outshined the sun several times over, bathing all who would gaze upon its holy visage in a golden blanket of warmth and light. Like two arms outstretched for a loving embrace, two pearl white wings unfurled from the being’s back, stretching out across the horizon, as if to smother the planet itself in its shining glow.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Each Angel is an embodiment of a specific Element within the Metaverse. As such, their very being is made of the Element which they represent, and is able to instinctively manipulate any natural occurring instances of that Element which appear around them. EX: An Angel of Fire is both made of fire, and is also able to directly control any fires that are started within its field of control.
Angels are by nature shapeshifters, so much like their omnipotent creators are able to change their appearance and even their gender at will. However, Angels are limited in their transformative abilities, as they can only use their own Element or things directly created from their Element to alter their appearance. EX: An Angel of Electricity could not make it look like they were made of stone.

Genetics and Reproduction

Typically, Angels are incapable of reproducing by their own means. An Angel only comes into existence when a God wills the creation of one.
While Angels do not undergo age or any kind of decay mortals undergo, it is still possible to physically 'kill' an Angel, if dealt enough damage. When an Angel is killed, their current body ceases to exist entirely. Somewhere else in the Universe, a new 'egg' of the original Angel will form, developing someplace where its original Element is prevalent enough to promote its growth back to adulthood, at which point the 'Angelic Fetus' will grow into a matured Angel as normal.
However, this is not a perfect rebirth. Even though they will retain a similar level of power and control over their Element, they will lose all memories of their former life. In all ways but their name, the reincarnated Angel is an entirely different person from their former life.

Growth Rate & Stages

When an Angel is first born, it begins as a simple, inanimate shell. This solid shell is the Angel's Soul, and will typically situate itself in a place where it has ready access to as much of its Element as possible. Over time, this Soul will grow enough to be able to bend its Element around itself, creating a crude body for itself as it further learns to control its Elemental powers. This process can take up to one hundred years, depending on the Angel.
After it has entered Childhood, an Angel will enter into a rapid state of growth, attaining adulthood, and with it full mastery of its Element in a fraction of the time it took to reach Childhood.
Additionally, there is one final evolutionary stage an adult Angel can enter, if they are truly adept in the control of their Element. When an Angel has gained ultimate control over their Element, to the point where they can bend it to their will just as easily as their parental God would, they are able to grow Wings, which act as an amplifier for their Elemental Abilities.

Ecology and Habitats

Angels need to be in close proximity to natural sources of their Element in order to sustain their life for extended periods of time. As such, most Angels often prefer to live much of their life near the place of their birth, or someplace with similar characteristics. However, Angels are able survive in places where their Element is in short supply, but may be in a weakened state if this persists, or if they are in a place where a natural counter to their Element is more prevalent. EX: An Angel of Fire would not survive for very long in an Ocean.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Not only are Angels able to manipulate any natural instances of their Element, they can also make it a part of themselves, acting as an extension of their being. While this means that any damage dealt to the ‘appendage’ in question will transfer to the Angel as well, it also gives the Angel much more minute control over it. Angels will also be able to feel sensations through appendages made this way, such as sight or sound, if the related organs are created on the limb itself. Additionally, certain Angels may have Elements whose attributes inherently give them enhanced senses. EX: An Angel of Sound would be able to detect all sound waves within their field of control, and even detect its direction of origin as well as the nature of its source.

Gender Ideals

As Angels are shapeshifters with no actual organs to speak of, aside from their Soul, they are free to change their appearance and gender at any time, under the constraints of their Element. Typically, most Angels will decide on which gender they are before they enter into Childhood, and will remain that way for their entire life. Some Angels, however, choose to be androgynous, and either identify as neither gender, or will switch their gender at will depending on their mood.

Common Etiquette Rules

As most Angels see one another as their only family, many Angels will often refer to each other as 'brother' or 'sister' despite having no real familial relationship.

History

Angels are beings weaved into existence by one of the Gods. While any God is capable of creating an Angelic son or daughter for their own, the laws mandated in The Chronicle dictate that no God may use such a child to influence the Metaverse in any way for their own benefit. As such, upon their birth Angels are 'adopted' into the world, their body, mind, and memories forming in a place in which their powers can mature unfettered. A fully grown Angel will have no knowledge of their true creator, or of their ultimate purpose in life. The expectation is that an Angel will grow just as mortals do, determining for themselves what is right and wrong.
Angels were first created in an effort to combat the growing threat posed by Anomalous Rebels. Within the first era of The Chronicle’s creation, a fierce, Metaverse-wide war took place. Battles were primarily held between Anomalies and the Angels, in which entire galaxies would be wiped from existence, while others were ripped from this Dimension into one of the thousands of alternate Dimensions the Anomalies had created.
The Angels were ultimately able to emerge victorious and sealed each Anomaly into their own Dimension, never to return to the Universe which they had irreversibly scarred.
In the wake of this war, the leader of the Angels, Fala, created a Council which would lead the Metaverse should a threat like what they had faced before were to ever appear. In modern times they are called the Angelic Council and act mostly as delegates between planets in an effort to promote galaxy-wide peace.
In the year 1511, a faction of Angels formed which refused to accept their place in the world. They called themselves the Gods’ Coup, and were lead by the Angel of War, Kaiden Rylan. This group of rogue Angels acted in secret for decades, usurping strength and resources from the countries they were supposed to protect in order to one day make themselves rulers of all the worlds. Eventually, their machinations were discovered through the combined efforts of Bella and Santarra, and a war broke out in order to bring the rebel Angels to justice. Ten years later, the last of the rebels were defeated, and the Angelic Council was returned to order.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The Angelic Council is based in the Trilian Galaxy, and actively played a role in the creation of the Trilian Peace Conferece, an alliance formed between all the governments of the Galaxy in order to promote order and peace. Several Angels act as delegates for each of these governments, and as an act of good faith, as well as monitor local happenings, delegates will often live on the same planet as that Government.
