Vulkrem finds himself reliving some of his most traumatic memories, with the help of Kroz, Tella'Si, Tanozall, Syr'Cap, Busiris, Ezra, Arael, and Sillia. Culminates with the Archfey, Venumbra, Achorus, and Tarksson, who represents Velho, all vying for Vulkrem's allegiance. Vulkrem winds up sacrificing his soul to Achorus, in exchange for her promising to save Ezra, Arael, and Sillia. Vulkrem dies. Venumbra and Velho agree to make a deal. Tanozall, Syr'Cap, and Busiris swear themselves to Venumbra. When it is all over, Kroz attempts to bring Vulkrem back from the dead, but something goes wrong, and he turns him into the world's first Vampire.
