In an attempt to make Lanthem and Cedric into Gods, Imili suggests they publicly eradicate the Werewolves infesting New Crescendo. They succeed, but Cedric is killed in the attempt, and it's only by pulling the soul of his other self, killing that version of him, that he's able to bring himself back to life. During this, Vulkrem imbues Cedric with some of his blood magic, turning Cedric into a Vampire. The Werewolves are destroyed, but many civilians were killed as well, making the mission less heroic seeming and awe inspiring than they would have preferred.
