Tarksson, Tanozall, Syr'Cap, Busiris, Cedric, and Karlt face off against the Hydra and kill it, but not before the Hydra kills Karlt. His companions go to great lengths to bring him back. Busiris and Cedric both become Clerics of Lunara. Syr'Cap prays to the gods for the first time. They sacrifice Cedric's Amulet of Health and the Moonstone, both are destroyed in the process. In the end, Venumbra intervenes, speaking directly to Karlt's Soul, promising to bring him back to life, in exchange for Karlt joining him permanently, requiring him to turn away from Yenna. Karlt refuses, choosing instead to die. Tarksson tries to figure out the Earthstone, but so far cannot.
