Spells Requiring a Spellcasting Focus

These spells must be cast with a Spellcasting Focus, because the components cannot be come by otherwise. You cannot use a Component Pouch.

These spells can be cast, but require specific components that you must find in game, and cannot get around with Spellcasting Focuses or Component Pouches.

  • Awaken: an agate
  • Booming Blade: a melee weapon
  • Chromatic Orb: a diamond
  • Circle of Death: the powder of a crushed back pearl
  • Clairvoyance: a jeweled horn or glass eye
  • Clone: a diamond, and a vessel with a sealable lid large enough to hold a Medium Creature
  • Contingency: a statuette of yourself carved from ivory and decorated with gems
  • Continual Flame: ruby dust
  • Create Homunculus: a jewel-encrusted dagger, and clay, ash, and mandrake root
  • Create Undead: a black onyx stone for each corpse
  • Dawn: a sunburst pendant
  • Divination: incense and a sacrificial offering appropriate to your religion
  • Drawmij's Instant Summons: a sapphire
  • Find the Path: bones, ivory sticks, cards, teeth, or carved runes
  • Forbiddance: a powdered ruby
  • Forcecage: ruby dust
  • Gate: a diamond
  • Glyph of Warding: incense and powdered diamond
  • Greater Restoration: diamond dust
  • Green-Flame Blade: a melee weapon

  • Sequester: a powder composed of diamond, emerald, ruby, and sapphire
  • Shadow of Moil: an undead eyeball encased in a gem
  • Simulacrum: snow or ice in quantities sufficient to make a life-size copy of the duplicated creature; some hair, fingernail clippings, or other piece of that creature's body placed inside the snow or ice; and a powdered ruby
  • Snare: 25 feet of rope
  • Steel Wind Strike: a melee weapon
  • Stoneskin: diamond dust
  • Summon Fiend: humanoid blood inside a ruby vial
  • Summon Greater Demon: a vial of blood from a humanoid killed within the past 24 hours
  • Summon Lesser Demon: a vial of blood from a humanoid killed within the past 24 hours
  • Summon Shadowspawn: tears inside a gem
  • Tasha's Otherworldly Guise: an object engraved with a symbol of the Outer Planes
  • Teleportation Circle: rare chalks and inks infused with precious gems
  • Temple of the Gods: a holy symbol
  • True Resurrection: diamonds
  • True Seeing: an ointment for the eyes made of mushroom powder, saffron, and fat
     

Spells Impossible to Cast Right Now

These spells are impossible to cast in the Stone Age, due to the spell components. These are spell components with a monetary cost, which means you can't use a Spell Focus to get around it, so they are simply impossible to cast in the campaign right now.
