Atluu* (At-lu-star)

The first port of call entering Transhadar, and the last on the way out, as well as a hub of industry and shipbuilding in its own right, Atluu* has developed into one of the wealthiest and most sought after systems throughout the Chord. While the day to day affairs within the Archipelago within are mostly handled internally, The Virginian Confederation currently lays claim to the entire system.

Geography

Atluu* has no terrestrial planets, in stark contrast to its biggest rivals. Instead, it features the Barcid Archipelago.
The Archipelago consists of the denser half of Atluu*'s asteroid belt, in a strange statistical anomaly. Instead of being uniform across, one half contains many more asteroids and dwarf planets, and this anomaly is called the Barcid Archipelago. The largest and most successful settlement within the Barcid is the City-Planetoid of Gades. Settled for its strategic position in the Barcid, as well as the half-belt's natural bounty of solar tuna, Gades is capital city of the Barcid Thalassocracy. It is a dwarf planet, and the largest solid rock-thing in the system.
Aside from Gades, Atluu* features many smaller planetoids, crisscrossed with uncountable trade routes, arsenals, and drydocks.

Ecosystem

The Barcid is known for its very unique belt-based ecosystem. Much of its life has been exported from the system since its discovery, but nowhere does it still exist to the scale of the Barcid. 
The basis of the Barcid's unique ecosystem is its microbiology, suited to asteroids. Every rock, asteroid, and piece of dust in the system is covered in an oil slick membrane, giving it a small but permeable atmosphere. In addition, the animal life of the Barcid is adapted to collect and use different gasses as natural propellant to traverse the zero-g ecosystem.
The utility of such species for human settlement, combined with the fact that the Barcid's life shares a common ancestor with human-native life, leads experts to believe the ecosystem was bio-engineered long, long ago.
