The Centre Plain

Since the civil war of the Kingdom of Light, conflict after conflict has scorched the great continent. Ravenous bands of Kobolds, hostile Wild Elves, and great nations of mortals and Devils have fought over the remnants of the old kingdom.   All the while, something else is undoubtedly going on. A great and dreadful race of Elves appeared from their homeland and sundered the mountains before mysteriously vanishing. A thick plague of tar and mucus spreads from an abandoned Dwarven temple. Dragons are abroad once more. Children are stolen from their beds by raiders in the night, and the old gods stir once again.   Most disturbing of all are the disappearances. Missing Persons signs for people no-one has ever seen or heard of; bachelors wondering why they sleep in rooms made up for two.
