Legends and Myths

Many Legends, Myths, and Lost Arts exist in the world, for war and time have wiped away many things that once were common or known. Most never to be recovered, but some legends linger still, in the minds of the old, or of the mad.

The Lost City of Kadar was one of the great cities of the world. Forefront in Magic and Technology before the coming of the First Celestial Occupation. They held for years, longer than any before them and many since. Before they fell, moments before the First Celestial Emperor himself broke down the gates, the city was engulfed in a fiery storm and when it cleared, Kadar had vanished.     Dragon-Staves are Relic Weapons initially derived from the Powder stolen from the Celestial Empire. They are ponderous and slow weapons that require maintenance after every hit, and unreasonable amounts of the powder per shot. Nonetheless they are powerful ranged weapons that have a long and reliable history of use since the 4th Celestial Occupation. Damage ranges from 4D8-5D12 depending on model, one use per short rest. Misfire 5   Drakk-Belchers are similar to Dragon Staves, yet were independently developed by the Dwarven Kingdoms. They are less powerful than Dragon-staves almost universally yet they are much more reliable for day to day use. They are expensive however, custom made and requiring expensive ammo and Dwarvish acceptance to properly make and maintain, along with having few models to choose from. DMG Firearms. Misfire 1.   Thunder Cannons are rare variants of Dragonstaves usually made by Certain Artificers. Every single one is unique, almost entirely dependant on the creator to function maintain and use. It is sometimes possible figure out how to fire one but almost always this is a one time affair, as ammunition and loading are almost impossible without the creator or their magic empowering the device. Damage and use vary, generally DC20+ to figure out how to fire it once, then it is useless mostly, except perhaps to sell.   Lost Fragments are relics from lost ages, magic items and Artifacts from destroyed civilizations and some Fallen from the heavens themselves. Always they are of strange design and often powerful. Lost Fragments are easy to use and sometimes easy to maintain, though the details vary wildly by model. Prized for their power and ease of use, some even can be partially reproduced or ammo made, though only rarely are they as powerful or more than Dragon-Staves. DMG modern and Future Weapons. Misfire 0-1.   Guns are a bastard offspring of Dragon-Staves, often unreliable and cheap, yet they are much easier to maintain and use than almost any alternative. Their use has spread far, and sees use in many militaries, each trying and failing to recreate the power and reliability of greater devices, with less cost or maintenance. However there is much greater model variety in such efforts, causing some to scorn any but the common gun, for if there is something needed for any situation, a gun is your friend. Matt Mercer Gunslinger options.   THE GRAVE OF FREEDOM There have been a staggering amount of dead as a result of the Celestial Occupations, and with the lives went their wealth, for none save the Scholarly or Greedy among the Immortals ever cared for anything save the Mundane wealth of those they conquered, so sure in their ways were they. To this day none know where this mass grave is, but many search for it endlessly, for to find it is to be granted access to the final rest of Heroes and Demigods, and such a trove would be a boon to any who stumble upon it.
GOLGOTHA The Golgotha Initiative is a project started generations ago, now shrouded in mystery as all those who knew of its details perished. All that is left beyond its halls, long lost in the Tumultuous edge of the Shattered Lands, is a single message left by its long ago founder. We will build the machine. We will see EVERYTHING.   The Prophecy of the End is an ancient prophecy or vision of the End of the World. Pieced together from a Thousand Different Prophecies and Visions and Madmans scrawlings, none can quite agree. Yet all signs point to an eventual, unavoidable End, the 2 most common interpretations amongst those Doomsayers who study the phenomenon being an expanding Sun swallowing all the world, or a Red Giant destroying the World with his massive Blade. The Great Wizard Fartfurter believes the Sun represents the Great Maw, but more learned minds are skeptical. Sleepless Stondarr believes it to be the Giant Calvacsix returning.
