Reapers

"And how can man die better than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers, and the temples of his Gods?”
— Thomas Babington Macaulay
Reapers are Spirits of death, entropy and undeath. They are beings of pure necrotic energy and are a part of the great cycle of life and death. They are the aspects of death, without which the natural order would break apart.

Creation: A Reaper is created from the soul of a mortal dedicated to upkeeping the cycle of life and uplifted after extensive training to assist him in his duties.
Reapers all possess great power, yet are bound by their role and duties. They are severely limited in what they can do with those same powers. As a result, reapers spend almost all of their time on higher planes of existence, entirely unperceived by the mortal creatures whom they shepherd.

The Primary duties of a reaper is to allow for mortal creatures to die by harvesting their souls and setting them upon the currents of the Spirit world. When a mortal dies, for whatever reason, their soul remains within the body until a reaper can collect it. If this is not allowed to happen, the soul is trapped in a torturous stasis and the body is likely to become some form of Undead.
A reaper's job is to quite literally bring death to everything it can reach, though its tight control prevents it from affecting those it shouldn't. When a necromancer unleashes aspects of a reaper without its ability to restrain it, it brings chaos to the natural order.

Arch-Reapers

Arch-Reapers are reapers that have been further elevated. They lead legions of lesser reapers in pursuit of their duties, according to their disposition and philosophy.
Listed here are the most well-known Arch-Reapers and a brief description on them. Some scholars claim that these individuals are actually just guises of the god of death, Samedi.

Wolf and Lamb
Wolf and Lamb are often the embodiment of violent death by fate. They are a dual-entity of death. When fate decides a creature is fated to die violently, for example because it will be targeted by an assassin, Wolf and Lamb may appear in the creature's dream and offer them a choice. They may choose Lamb and die peacefully in their sleep, or they may choose wolf and live out their life to its natural (and violent) conclusion.
If a creature chooses wolf, they wake up the next morning with no memory of their choice.

Father Time
Father Time is often characterized as the embodiment of death caused by time. He is often depicted as a wizened old man holding a scythe and an hourglass. He is the one collecting those dying from old age, those with bodies failing from time and exhaustion and those that have stayed in the mortal realm for too long. He is said to be kind and patient, yet also stern and unwavering in his duties.

Deprivation
Deprivation, also called the 'Skeletal rider' is a grim figure indeed. He is death for those that die of starvation, dehydration, asphyxiation and other aspects of life being taken from the living. His specter can be felt strongly in times of famine and poverty. His withering power and the chill touch of his bony fingers are feared by all life instinctively.
Father Time
Deprivation
Reapers are spirits, and as such they have no set shape. Instead, a reaper shapes itself to what a creature looking upon them thinks they should look like. Thus they look like skeletons, transparent shapes, wizened old men, ancestral warriors or cruel monsters, depending of the culture of the creature beholding them.
