The Elemental Kingdom of Alagada
Human empire made up of four kingdoms uniting under a council of kings.
The four kingdoms were each founded on the conflux of one major elemental plane. Air, earth, fire, and water.
The ruler of each kingdom styled themselves as the Elemental Lord of their respective kingdom.
The four kingdoms started out in conflict with one another, frequently fighting over the land between them. A land that was rich in resources, most of it magical, stemming from the combination of nearby confluxes. Eventually the rulers decided to unite and a new city was built in the center of the land, Alagada.
Alagada was founded on the backs of enslaved Planeborn leashed by the human Elemental Lords. These Planeborn were used to harness the energy of the confluxes. The Planeborn were forced to use the energy to fuel the empire.
The empire employs conflux energy to fuel the empire's industry and military. They have created and deployed numerous elementally power war machines and constructs.
The empire had a combative relationship with its neighbors and internal politics was always rocky.
The empire had a very rigid class structure where each class exerted considerable power over those below it.
Eventually an uprising of the lower classes and freeing of the enslaved Planeborn would result in the catastrophic collapse and destruction of the empire.
The ruins of the empire and its original kingdoms became a common spot for archeologists and treasure hunters.
Structure
The Elemental Lords operate as a council with the highest level of power.
The High nobility swear fealty to the Elemental Lords. They function as regional government officials in the lands which they have leased or been granted by the Lords.
The Low nobility function as the next level of local officials who swear fealty to the Elemental Lords and are commanded by the High nobility.
The Merchant's Guild holds significant financial power across the empire. They hold no political power.
The Order of Hired Swords is an empire spanning Mercenary Guild made up of multiple companies that contract their services out to clients inside and outside of the empire.
