Planeborn (plAYn-bORn)

The Planeborn were the first naturally occurring and native species of Yhihria. The Planeborn were created out of the conflux of magic which formed the planet. Areas of the world were infused with massive amounts of energy from various planes. These areas would become special zones, called Confluxes, which fused the planar energy with the material spaces around them. With this energy also came the spontaneous creation of the Planeborn. Humanoid, intelligent creatures which were infused with the essence of an origin plane. The origin planes being those who's energy was used in the creation of the world. The first generation of Planeborn were spontaneously birthed from the earth in the Confluxes. At the beginning of life on the planet the initial Confluxes were maelstroms of energy. The Creators would harness this energy and spread it into and across the world. Before they could do this though, the Planeborn emerged. Throughout history there have been a few subsequent births of Planeborn from the Confluxes. The majority of Planeborn beyond the first generation are ancestors of the first generation. It has been theorized that should the essence of a Planeborn be past on for a long enough period of time it may reintegrate with the planet itself and be reborn from a Conflux. The Planeborn could be simply described as 50% elemental and 50% humanoid. They appear to have a skeletal structure, musculature, and organs, but the rest of their body is made up of Planar energies which resemble the plane they were birthed from. This could be as simple as the fiery material of the Elemental Plane of Fire, to wispy but solid forms of the Shadowfell, all the way to being who radiate energy of the Upper and Lower planes. Planeborn could even appear as a simple human or elf analogue who's elemental nature is not readily apparently but can manifest deliberately or spontaneously. A Planeborn of celestial origin might appear as nothing more than an Aasimar or Eladrin, but at times they could become more angelic or radiant. One born of the lower planes might appear devilish or fiendish, similar to a tiefling, but wreathed in fire and brimstone when angered. It is far more common for descendants of Planeborn to display the more humanoid aspects of their parentage than pure-blooded Planeborn. Planeborn's elemental origins also provide them with unique insight into the world and areas they were born. They have an acute awareness of nature and the natural state of the Confluxes. This has been described as a empathic link with Mother Nature. This description has led many scholars to speculate they hold a unique bond with the planet itself. Planeborn personalities are wide and varied. They show a depth and breathe of personality similar to humans, but typically aligning more with the free spirited and chaotic elements. They typically display wanderlust and a feeling of being at home in the area they were born in equal measure. As of yet the plane of origin does not seem to have any particular influence on these traits. So far the physical makeup or plane of origin does not have a truly significant impact on their overall alignment. Of special note is the fact that Planeborn cannot mate with each other. They are fully capable of mating with other humanoid and monstrous species if they desire. Planeborn pass on their planar essence to their offspring creating a hybrid or half-Planeborn with a portion of their planar essence. This essence does not dissipate with successive generations and each one will be considered half-Planeborn. Due to the limited number of Pure blooded Planeborn existing at one time this has not resulted in a large portion of the world becoming half-Planeborn, as of yet.
