Mount Mouraine City Tier 1 Contract Courthouse
Contract Courthouse for the Tier 1 area of Mount Mouraine city.
Very large marble and stone building located to the north of the guard citadel. Central location for contract empowerment, signing, and arbitration in the first tier of the city. Adjacent buildings include contract archives and Judge's quarters.
Purpose / Function
This is the location where Patrons, Contract Masters, and Contractors go to have their contract signed, empowered, and arbitrated by Contract Judges.
The Courthouse is home to the Judges, court rooms, and the Pillar used to empower the contracts.
Alterations
The courthouse originally only encompassed the central courtyard and several court rooms that were originally used by the Mouraine family when the settlement was first founded.
Over time additional rooms and levels were added as the original settlement grew into a city. Additions were created in an unfolding pattern that built outward until space ran out. Then, additions were built upwards and downwards to accommodate continued growth.
The current structure encompasses 1 main level, 4 upper levels, and 3 lower levels. As well as 2 adjacent out buildings.
Architecture
The original building was mostly marble and limestone from local quarries. The courtyard was open air with arches and vaults supporting a forum around the Pillar. The first courtrooms were built off of the arches surrounding the Pillar courtyard. From there different styles were integrated each time the building needed to be expanded.
History
The original structure that became the current courthouse was the offices of the Mouraine family since the founding of the first settlement and up through the first fourth of the city's history. As the settlement grew into a city the Mouraine family began to create the Judges to assist with contract work as the population grew. The family would move their offices to new courthouses as they city expanded and new tiers were constructed.
