Tinker's Union

The Tinker's Union started as just that - a union. Founded by Granta Urtz, Tomephete Smelts, and Isbis Von Thistlebrook, the union's goal was to understand and harness the technology found in the frontier. The blackstone and various schema they found granted them unrivaled knowledge and power. They leveraged this knowledge and power into wealth, and over time, control. Where the transition from union into crime family first manifested is unclear. But by present day, the Tinker's Union's use of brute force, subversion, and violence rivals the other syndicates in ferocity and audacity.
While other syndicates are content to extort, assassinate, and raconteur their lives away, the Tinker’s Union has more pragmatic reasons for violence: the procurement of artifacts, technology, and subjects. They’ll happily employ any means necessary to acquire the things needed to complete their experiments, even if people die in the process.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, incredible leaps in the minor magics, public works, and quality of life would not have been possible without the efforts of the Tinker’s Union. For every cackling mad scientist there exists an benevolent surgeon, crafting magical prosthesis for disabled workers. No group in Marn has both helped and harmed the world to the extent the Tinker’s have, and for that reason alone they’ve been left to their own devices, with near immunity to consequence.
