The Big Guy
"Hey there fellas"
Role in the story:
Early Life and Magical Prodigy
From a young age, The Big Guy displayed an innate talent for magic, marking him as a prodigy among his kin. His formative years were spent in Savegroth, where he honed his skills as an apprentice mage under the guidance of seasoned wizards.
The Order of The Twelve
Seeking to further his magical knowledge and contribute to the preservation of arcane artifacts, The Big Guy accepted a position within The Order of The Twelve. This prestigious wizarding order oversaw Savegroth's magical affairs, including the collection, regulation, and sale of potent magic items throughout The August Realms.
Departure and Establishment in Ring City
Despite his initial aspirations, The Big Guy grew disillusioned with The Order's bureaucratic approach and its handling of magical artifacts. Determined to forge his own path, he departed Savegroth and settled in Ring City, where he established "Big Guy's Big Magic Shop." Here, he offered a unique array of enchanted items, spells, and magical services, quickly becoming a respected figure within the magical community. He quickly befriended another magic shop owner in the area, the druid Dizrah.
Big Guy uses his magic to create magical copies of himself to run his store while he creates new magic items to sell. These copies operate without Big Guy's direct influence and often have to get him from the back of his shop when people bring rare items or disagree with a price.
Contributions to the Party and Community
The party quickly met The Big Guy, and charmed by his friendly disposition, became fast friends with the magic shop owner. The Big Guy proved instrumental to the city's defense and the party's endeavors. His mastery of magic aided in defeating threats like Guardsmaster Leerstrom and tracking down malevolent forces such as Holland Bray, whose nefarious activities threatened the city's stability.
Notably, when Julianna Castille, the paladin leader of Ring City, was abducted by Holland Bray, The Big Guy's expertise in divination magic played a crucial role. Using a powerful scrying spell, he pinpointed Julianna's location within the Temple of Hedon, facilitating her timely rescue and bolstering the city's resolve against external threats.
Personality and Legacy
The Big Guy is known for his gentle and friendly demeanor, wisdom accrued from years of magical study, and a steadfast commitment to ethical magic use. His shop serves as a beacon of arcane knowledge and community, welcoming adventurers and residents alike seeking magical aid or simply a friendly conversation.
Physical Description
Standing tall even among his Firbolg kin, The Big Guy possesses blue fur and short, curly brown hair that he magicall styles. His attire typically includes a wizard's robe adorned with symbols of his craft, reflecting his deep connection to the arcane arts.
