The Ashen Wejak
"Wejak shows you the way to adapt. Hide when you must, strike when you can, and always shift your coat to suit your environment."

Basic Information
Biological Traits
The Ashen Wejak is a survivor. It resembles a large weasel with an ashy gray coat. Sharp claws allow both for capturing prey and climbing rock and tree. It can roam a wide range in search of food. Once it has spent a few days in a place, its coat begins to shift colors to better blend with the new environment, and its keen hearing tells it of both danger and prey.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Wejak's are solitary hunters. Young are raised by both parents until they are able to hunt on their own, at which point the small pack will separate and go their own way. Large groups of animals do not survive long in the wastes.
Domestication
Some Wasteland explorers will befriend Wejak and even bring them back out and keep them as pets, though the animals have never been successfully bred in captivity, being perpetually driven to wander in search of food. Zhaporians who live near the Dragonwastes will sometimes bond with a Wejak, admiring its adaptability and tenacity.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
In the days of the old Empire, Wejak were prized for their pelts as luxury items, but sport hunting in the dragonwastes is uniquely foolish, and the Wejak doesn't provide enough meat to be worth the incredibly difficulty that would be presented by trying to hunt such a wary animal, so this trade has largely died out.
Average Intelligence
Wejaks are remarkable problem solvers, which is another problem faced by attempts to domesticate them. They escape traps, gnaw through snares, and have even been known to steal prey out of a hunters trap.
