2 - Depths

by SilkyNoire
Her stomach had already started contractions - her body was trying to breathe, and she wasn't letting it. She was in too deep for regret now.
She turned a corner, and her body was flooded with a mixture of relief and concern. A massive temple, adorned with sculpted tentacles, stood at the back of a huge cave. It wasn't the most inviting place, sure, but there was a chance it had air inside. Something she desperately needed.
As she approached the vast entryway, she noticed something curious. There was a shimmering field at the threshold. Beyond it, she could swear there wasn't any water. Perhaps this was the barrier that cultist had mentioned, when he had spoken of the guardian. She lowered herself to the seafloor, and swam through.
The cold, damp air bit at her for a moment, before she had the sensation of falling. Like a cat, she righted herself, landing in a crouch. She looked around in the dim, stone entrance, before she gave in to her body's demands. She exhaled, then inhaled deeply. The air was stale, but breathable. She would have to swim out at some point, but for now, she explore wihout limit.
