The Tai Ritual

A New Leader for the Ïor

During 2997 PW, the Tai of the Northern Lake had passed away, rejoining the spirits. As is tradition, the Ïor within the tribe immediately began searching their female tribe-members for one who was magically aligned with Ïorreg.

While all of the reptillian Ïor align with Ïorreg in some way, only one can be discovered to be Her voice, Her prophet.

The Decision Process

In order to decide what being could be the Tai of the Northern Tribe, the tribe performed very traditional tests on any female capable of magic.

• Artwork. The Tai's ability to create art is critical. As the centerpiece of rituals, such as Creativity, the Tai must be able to please the gods with her hard work.
• Knowledge. The Tai's wisdom must be immense. Rather than having standard advice and good Common sense, the Tai must have extraordinary and uncanny connections to the wild and nature. For instance, for the 2999 ritual, the Northern Tai nominee knew exactly when the tide of the Northern Lake would go down every single day.
• Might. The Tai must be ready to defend her people against aggressive forces. Be it from The Vault or from other tribes, the Tai must be vigilant. She does not need to be a warrior, but she must have quick and efficient problem-solving skills with either magic, weapons, or diplomacy.

The Ritual Begins

The Northern Tai has been selected – a young Lizardfolk woman named Vii. Her name is now Tai'Vii, as her rank has joined her birthname to define her new Shamanhood.

As of the beginning of 3000 PW, only the first aspect of the ritual has been completed; the tribe elders have granted Tai'Vii additional life by sacrificing themselves. By gracing Tai'Vii with the knowledge and experience of the elders, the Northern Ïor will be guided by a mind able to reason from multiple perspectives.

During the next four months, the Tai will receive multiple other rituals.

1. The Naming Ceremony, where the Tai's name will be immortalized into the nearest root of the Arengold Tree and a celebration will be held in her honor. During this ceremony, every Ïor who respect the Northern Tribe will join in, ensuring that she sees their most talented performances. She will not judge them, and simply enjoy everything that the Ïor have to offer to the god of Rain.
2. The Final Test. As a final test, the Tai will lead the tribe in a Creativity Ritual. This Ritual will ensure clear waters and safe hunting for as long as she lives.
3. The Pilgrimage, where the Tai will journey to the Western, Southern, and Eastern Ïor Lakes. She will learn from those Tais so she may have as much experience as possible.
4. The Learning Ritual, where the Tai teaches all she learned during her month-long pilgrimage to her tribe. This ensures that the Ïor know threats to one another and continuously build their traditions together.

Finally, after these four months, the Tai is ready to lead her tribe as one of the most powerful Ïor on the Arengold Forest.
