Common

Under the Light of Ïllume, All Creatures Shall Know Common

The common language shall be basic. All creatures shall be able to pronounce it; From the eloquent elves to the stiff-beaked Tengu and all beings in-between. This Ïllume Decrees.

Common

Common is known as Ïllume-speak in the Arengold Forest. This is because Ïllume granted all creatures the ability to speak his language. For the purposes of out-of-game language, Ïllume speak sounds exactly like the language that is native to most players, and is agreed upon by most players. In the world, Ïllume speak is an extremely basic, primarily gutteral language that avoids using lips to make too many sounds.

Because of these limitations, all races have additional languages that they must be able to speak. Humans do not have an additional language, and instead typically learn Elvish. Elvish has many more lip-based words and a more intensive alphabet.

As long as a creature is made or born in the Arengold Forest, they have been exposed to or have learned some sort of Common. If they cannot speak Common, they will have trouble in interacial dialogue and also have trouble conducting the Creativity ritual.
