Kamshir religion
Kamshir is a polytheistic religion dominant over much of western Armara. Its pantheon is populated by seven gods, each of whom has a distinct and separate following, in a sense like sects of the religion, with different states across Eburin often embracing a different patron god, and with those in recently conquered territories often forced to convert.
Mythology & Lore
Inspired heavily from the other planets of the Makto subsystem and moons orbiting Kannal, Kamshir imagines the gods as the living embodiments of the planets and moons, each with their own duties on Eridus. Kannal, the Sky Father, remains close to Eridus and is the most important deity in the pantheon, all adherants to Kamshir worship him alongside their god/goddess of choice.
Mirad is the goddess of life, owing to the moon's striking similarities to Eridus, and is responsible for harvest and good luck. Her brother Vaashti however is the destroyer of worlds whose primary weapon is fire. Despite this responsibility Kaalani works together with Mirad, as what he destroys becomes a fresh canvas for Kaalani to fill in.
Divine Origins
Kamshir first arose in the holy city of Jaram. When Mure Kira and his family were exiled from the city, they brought the religion with them toward the Gisghari River, on the banks of which they founded Korsus. Kamshir was essentially the state religion of the Korsan Empire that arose from Korsus. Near the end of the Empire's lifespan though, in the 25th and 26th centuries AF, different sects started to emerge, with followers worshipping one particular god above the others. This created a strong fragmentation that accelerated the downfall of the already gradually decaying Empire.
Tenets of Faith
Each sect requires slightly different practices among the faithful, for instance those worshipping Mirad take actions to preserve the natural environment, whlie temples devoted to Kaalani require the tending of an eternal flame.
