Chihan
Chihan is a small state located in southern Chulan. It is the only nation on Eridus populated by a Sildor majority, with much of the population settling in the area during the Fall, as pogroms gradually erupted across Armara and Obela. Sildor populations were given refuge in the area by King Tannura Mbako of the Sampawi Empire, under the condition Chihan become a tributary state. Chihan is a mostly rural state, its largest settlement (Shanthur) only home to around 10,000 people, with around 80% of its economy devoted to agriculture.
Culture
Chian's culture is an eclectic mix of old pre-Fall Sildoran cultures, as well as indigenous South Chulanian cultures. The inhabitants speak a creole of the Sildoran Rochji language and the Nlapo language spoken across the Sampawi Empire.
History
Sildors populated select parts of Eridus starting c. 500 BF, however larger groups came to the moon starting around 2500 AF, with one large population in particular settling in Western Eburin and Hannun. As the System's War came to a close and the Fall accelerated however, anti-Sildor tensions erupted across Eridus, with Sildors either murdered or deported. Two large populations survive to this day, one having fled to the depths of the Tambasur Expanse, and the other being granted refuge by the Sampawi Empire, forming their own tributary state just outside their borders. With all travel off Eridus no longer feasible, and fears of attracting unwanted attention from the outside world, the Sildors inhabiting Chihan kept a low profile, with their state becoming an agriculture-based state.
In the 42nd century however they were discovered by Markazi explorers, previously unaware of the existence of Sildors, except as an exaggerated stereotype of monstruous, pointy-eared demons. This encounter turned out largely peaceful, though now the population wanted to request a guarantee of military protection from the Sampawi king. This proved a difficult situation for King Moko-Sambyan II, who wanted to reestablish regular trade with Armara and Obela.
