Arcanite Crystal

Arcanite is a mineral formed in stone when a strong Arcanium forces are present for long periods at a time. Arcanite can be mined, but loses its magickal properties when handled without expert care.
Only the Dwarf people have mastered the techniques to efficiently mine this magickal substance.
Arcanite possesses a unique and somewhat macabre property. It is able to hold a portion of a creatures life essence (some claim it holds a fraction of a creatures soul). When arcanite is filled with essence, it is able to exert a constant flux of arcanium. Arcanite is often used in magickal items, structures and traps.
Filling arcanite with a creature's essence is a practice that is often frowned upon, especially by established religions.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Arcanite can be filled with a creature's life essence (sometimes seen as a fraction of their soul) by casting the Soul Siphon spell while holding the arcanite. The quality of the arcanite determines the strength of the soul it can hold.
