Thomas Caruthers: Combative Chemistry Expert

Thomas "Boomer" Caruthers, combat engineer, injects versatility into Mongo's Monkey Militia. Caught for the Johannesburg bombings, Boomer's skill, not ideology, drove his mercenary actions. He was not the bomber, but rather sold his products to several bands of terrorists, a class of people who always seem to have infinite pockets. Vector-Parallel-Dots' astute recruitment redirected his talents. Initially, she had lured him to her residence in order to capture him and turn in the bounty. After listening to his passionate, two-hour explanation of the fifteen minute process of making pipebombs, she changed her mind and linked him up with Montgomery Strickland.

Explosives Mastery and Fireworks Passion

Boomer's expertise spans combative chemistry, nanofab tube programming and explosive fabrication. Turrets, gear and fortifications materialize under his touch. In his spare time (and with the vast majority of his paycheck), Boomer makes fireworks. This duality—lethal precision and pyrotechnic whimsy—defines Boomer's unique value. He's good at his job, and he loves doing it.

Redemption Through Service

Mongo's Monkey Militia offered redemption, of a sort. While the authorities are still technically looking for the mysterious 'Johannesburg Genius Bomber,' and the terrorists want his scalp for leaving them in the lurch, he's blissfully unaware of these possible hazards. Not only is he under Montgomery's protection, he finds that he is always content so long as he can watch things go boom.
