A Familiar Companion

Tandem Nexus Homunculi are, by default, small robots about the size of a housecat that come with a blank CCM and a Quantix Chip. The chip links to a cybernetics Tandum Nexus Core. The Nexus uploads a copy of the user's personality into the Homunculus. The Homunculus is loyal to the user (as loyal as the user is to themselves, anyway) and a constant loop bounces between the user and their homunculus.

Keeping Each Other Honest

The user and the Homunculus constantly update each others' 'programming,' with a tolerance for normal lessons and growth but none for sudden radical changes. This protects the Homunculus from reprogramming or jackers, but it also protects the user from brainwashing, Neural Weaponry, mind-altering substances, or Psionics.

Nothing Too Radical

A Homunculus' chip can be slotted anywhere an SI can go, meaning Smart Weapons, vehicles, or most especially other Robotics Platforms. However, the further a new form deviates from humanoid, or the more complex the new form, the more confusion is introduced into the loop. Users who are particularly ambitious.
