Recursive Intelligence
"Unlike the status of Artificial Intelligence in our society, there are no ethical concerns regarding Recursive Intelligences. They have a component of AI, true, but they are purely recursive-loop algorythms. They are easily distinguishable from human minds, and really that's what we care about."
Quantum Repetition
Recursive Intelligence is the direct result of Recursive-Loop Algorithms, and it was humanity's first step towards true AI. Using a quantum-matrix computer, input is processed and the algorithm runs through thousands of possible responses. These possible responses are compared towards parameters for positive outcomes set by the operator. Each possibility is accepted or rejected based on the parameters, then the input cycles through again. All remaining possibilities are compared again with a higher fidelity to the parameters, a few might be added but the next cycle is smaller. This continues until the RI finds an 'optimal response' and acts on it.
Uses
RI is used for all basic computing in the PSC. The CCMs that contain them are relatively small, so they can be used in Smartguns, consoles, vehicles, FM drones, combat suits, and nearly anything else that needs a rudimentary 'brain.' RIs are sometimes used in robots, but only those with basic intelligence requirements like manual labor models. Putting an RI into a humanlike robot would immediately set off an uncanny valley in a human as they could tell within moments that the robot is a robot.
