Nanoweave

"I never could figure out why my dress blacks were reinforced nanoweave until the CoR nutjobs caught me on shore leave.

Nanomaterial

Woven carbon nanotubes arranged in layers that are then sewn together, nanoweave is a lightweight material that's both stab, shock, and heat resistant. It's a popular material for military uniforms, both for in and out of combat, as well as work uniforms and flightsuits. It's somewhat less popular in civilian or everyday attire, as it's a little more coarse than Monocrys or Spidersilk. The thinner nanoweave is used in capes and flags, and at its thinnest it can be arranged to even be slightly lighter than air which allows for a good billow without much of a breeze. Heavier variants are impact resistant, with the nanotubes locking up briefly in response to a blow and spreading out the impact at the cost of being slightly brittle. Quilted variants are the strongest of all, and are popular among planetary defense forces.
