Cosmicists

"You're nothing, then you die. Maybe your stardust will contribute something of value once the universe restarts."

Insignificance as a Fact

Cosmicism is a bleak and unforgiving philosophy that confronts the harsh reality of existence: life is meaningless. In an vast, uncaring universe, individual struggles and triumphs are but a fleeting moment, lost in the infinite expanse of time and space. Cosmicists believe that the existence of higher-dimensional beings, confirmed by encounters with Redspace entities, further underscores the insignificance of three-dimensional life. Like insects scurrying on the surface of a pond, unaware of the depths beneath, humanity is blind to the true nature of reality.

Insignificance as a Comfort

Yet, in this desolate landscape, Cosmicists find a strange solace. Embracing the meaninglessness of life liberates the individual from the burdens of purpose and responsibility. Without the weight of significance, one is free to exist, unencumbered by the expectations of others or the need for self-justification. Cosmicists see this as a profound release, allowing them to revel in the beauty of existence without attachment to outcome or consequence. In the grand tapestry of the cosmos, individual threads are insignificant, but the tapestry itself is a work of sublime indifference.

A Mere Three Dimensions

To the Cosmicist, three-dimensional life is but a primitive, simplistic expression of existence. Like bacteria, it is a nascent, unevolved form, blind to the complexities and wonders that lie beyond its limited perception. The existence of higher-dimensional beings, with their unfathomable motivations and powers, reduces human concerns to the petty squabbles of insects. Cosmicists see themselves as mere spectators, witnessing the unfolding of a cosmic drama in which their actions are but a faint, insignificant whisper. In this, they find a strange, liberating freedom.

Priesthood

Cosmicists do have priests, but they have little organization between them. Some are antitheists, but others are Kthonikers, some worship other extradimensional entities like theĀ Beast of Grayspace. They are laregly responsible for their own dogma and while they sometimes network, they can't generally count on others for support.
