History

The Kingdom of Arkanvail was established in the year 982, second era by Howard Avalèn. Over the agonizing years of King Richard Fall of Stormhold, many people fled the city in hopes of finding a new start. Leading one of the larger parties, Howard led his people to the northern shore of Aewyth where they would eventually build their own home. The constructions were later moved out onto the island off the north coast. This was where the Kingdom of Arkanvail would be established.

Howard Avalèn was later crowned King and together with his people they named their kingdom, Arkanvail. (Runic name for salvation). As the years went by, wars raged between the kingdoms of Arkanvail & Stormhold. It wasn’t before 1682 when King Daron Fall of Stormhold met with King Liam Avalèn to discuss a peaceful proposal between the two large forces, that the kingdoms became an Alliance.

Following the peace treaty between Arkanvail & Stormhold, King Daron & King Liam met with King Varthero Delaron and established a united power.

  The Lord of the Abyss
Built on the outskirts of Arkanvail, North Watch is a seafarer's town. The place hasn't seen much prosperity since a tragedy befell its people, causing countless lives to be lost to the depths of the ocean. Survivors speak of a giant monster with tentacles that tore ships apart, killing anything in its path. During the early 13th century, a legend of North Watch, Captain Eldred Sutton, sat out to defeat the enemies that were seemingly slaughtering the sailors of Arkanvail. However, what he and his men came across was no pirate or hostile fleet. It was a monster with tentacles larger than half the ship. Before the men even got to react, the galleon was torn to pieces in a matter of seconds. A few survivors were left holding onto parts of the wreckage, and as the beast came back to the surface, they saw their Captain stand before it with a plea to spare his men. In return, he offered himself to the beast. It was almost like the monster understood his prayer as it waited a moment before dragging the Captain down to the abyss, leaving his men behind. A few surviving sailors managed to get back to the town of North Watch and were able to share their terrifying encounter. They spoke about Eldred's sacrifice and how the beast let them live in return. Over the years, this event drastically took control of the people's lives in the town and spread to the city of Arkanvail. In fear of this entity, the Kingdom began referring to this monster as Kordread, the Lord of the Abyss. He was revered as a god, one that would allow them safe passage across the seas if they bestowed him a gift every year on the same day Eldred was taken. North Watch was tasked with ensuring this deity would receive the offering on time, which they upheld with honor. Every year, a brave soul would be sent out on the ocean to be sacrificed to the great Kordread so that he would protect rather than destroy. The Kingdom of Arkanvail changed their banners to represent Kordread, which would both honor the beast and stir up fear in their enemies' hearts.
  The King of the Seas
Over the course of the next few centuries, the royal dynasty of Arkanvail was referred to as the Kings of the Seas. Their devotion to the deity, Kordread, bordered on zealotry. They were so confident that as long as they worshipped the creature, it would help them rule the seas. At the start of the 16th century, this, however, took a dramatic turn. An entire fleet, including the ship of the Queen, vanished south of the Emerald Depths. This threw the King into despair, but not over the loss of his wife, but rather the fear of having lost the grace of Kordread. In an attempt to bring back his good favor, one hundred men and women were taken against their will and sacrificed to the deity. The news that the King had gone mad spread like wildfire within the city. People began to riot over the unwilling sacrifices made, but as they were gathering outside the castle, a storm hit like never before. The thundering sound followed by extreme rain and harsh winds made the citizens believe that Kordread was coming for them. In a panic, everyone fled back to their homes, hoping that the beast would leave them alone. To challenge a King’s decision was now something they would never do again, and the tales of these events would go down in history. From that day forward, one hundred people would be sacrificed each year to the deity.

The groundbreaking discovery of using Black Powder as weaponry has allowed the Naval Forces to use Cannons onboard their ships. The city itself is still using an older technology of weaponry, like the ballista, catapults & siege towers.
