Blood Squirts

This disease will make blood squirt from your eyes, specifically those fleshy bits on either side of your nose, and a little somewhere else that gets this classed as an STD. You also sweat blood.

Transmission & Vectors

The squirted blood mixing with your bodily fluids. Yup: STD.

Symptoms

Squirting of blood from eyes and genitalia. Also due to swelling and rupturing of vessels near sweat glands you're likely to have a red tint to your sweat and yes that is your blood.

You bleed a lot, it eventually goes away, it might spark up again if you don't get enough iron in you because that bloodloss is bad for your iron content and you need that iron for your immune system. Do not do the dookie for at least a month after all symptoms have ceased otherwise there's a chance of spreading it to the other person.

Also the normal immune system stuff like sweating, temperatures, snotty nose, all the good stuff: this stuff all happens for about a day before the blood squirting.

Treatment

A cocktail of herbs. Water mixed with the after-product of Krysa crystal's reaction with air greatly reduces symptoms.

Sequela

Iron deficiency and dehydration.

Affected Groups

Brijilds - The Fire Family are generally unaffected as their body's equivalent to having a temperature is well just read what they are they almost never get sick for more than a day because their body temperatures get so ridiculous.

Hosts & Carriers

Rats, mice, cats, dogs, some species of bird. Lots of carriers to help the humans get blood squirting out of their eyes.

Prevention

Epidemiology

Usually through infected water supplies. This disease also affects rats, albeit only causing increased sweating and vomiting in them, and so these rats often infect water supplies.

History

The disease came into Lamara as a result of the Milarite invasion, in which either some of the invaders or rats following them were infected.

Cultural Reception

Increased chastity. This existing at the same time as menstruation and 0 sex education regularly causes various series of events.

Believed to have originated in a curse by a shaman and that having the disease attracts bad spirits.
