Magic on Athas

In past ages, arcana magic has been associated with defilement and death. This stigma still lingers, though restrictions on magic users have loosened. Defilement remains a capital offense in nearly every city, and some mages do practice it in secret, but several arcane professions have developed that avoid its use entirely.

The following spells are additional spells added; some are new and others replace certain spells. Many of these new spells are weaker than their same-level counterparts in terms of damage or effect, however, they have exceptional scaling when upcast. This means the new spells are ideal targets for defilement, should the cost be counted worthy.
