The Red

Only a select few of the Seakin have the ability to control their colour. Only the Red in fact.   Every Seakin is born translucent and shimmering with whatever colour they happen to feel at the moment. Usually a newborn is shocked by the cold water and the sudden sense of space. They become a very bright form of whatever color means alarm for them. It is unfortunate that each color does not carry over equally with each Seakin. Communication would be so much simpler. However each Seakin has their own color for anger, happiness, suspicion, etc. Only by familiarity does one begin to realize a pattern. Ie. Just before Moia steals her brother's treat a slash of green strikes her features, though whenever Moia's brother slashes with green you know he's going to cry. Without an emotion the Seakin's features are a faint fog in the seawater. Usually Seakin do not have the ability to hide their emotions beyond hiding them behind a rock.   The Seakin who can control their emotions/colors are drafted as soon as possible into the Red for use as spies and espionage attacks. Their colours are tamed and trained. The human army learns to march in step. The Seakin army learns to swim in color. It is a truly daunting experience to see a whole army of blood red soldiers pulsing toward you through the waters. You'll agree it would cause anyone to abandon their prior evil.   However, it is rare that anyone can breath underwater long enough to watch this bloody approach, let alone an entire army. Also it is not as though anybody else wants to take over their domain. Because of this the Seakin are rarely at odds with other races. It has happened though. There is always an evil prince or other who wants to kidnap the Seakin princess. The Red was formed to defend against such inappropriate advances. There are always troubles within the Seakin society itself too.

Composition

Manpower

10 Reds per Royal Family Member

Weaponry

Seathorn barbs. Inking blusters. The Kraken.

Tactics

1. Blank coloured investigation of enemy. Discover how many weapons they have that actually work underwater, training, organization, rank, etc.   2. During battle first attack is usually Inking Blusters so the inked enemy cannot blend with the background, if they are Seakin, or cannot see, if they are land folk.   3. The next wave of the enemy is taken care of with the Seathorns which when impaled into the skin of an enemy begins to burrow. Seathorn barbs cannot be extracted and the only way to keep one from continuing its journey through the body is to cut off the part that was pierced. If that part is a torso or head the person is dead even before dying.   4. If the enemy persists the Red unleash the Kraken. If in any of its three months of feeding, the gigantic squid usually takes care of anything left moving with its barbed suction cups and ravenous hunger. It has also been known to break apart the ships of the enemy as well. Such great loss is a great deterrent to future skirmishes.

Training

Battling the other dreads of the deep. Learn different enemies tactics and learn how to destroy them. Different tactics work for different enemies. Learn only one method and you can be sure to die in battle.   Change is the battle plan. Change tactics. Change colour. Colour or Die relates to everything.
Red Motto:
Colour or Die
"We will defeat the Southern Seakin. You say it isn't possible to defeat anyone who breaths both water and air and can be invisible but I say fodderoff! They first protect their royal family and second the Seakin community. That is their rule. At dawn with our bladed ships we attack the community. They will flood out for that. Then we will sneak in behind and kidnap the princess. King Wop has to promise us safe passage to the Isle then. We will defeat them."
