The Other Coach

Light is the answer to the impossible. It always has been. It always will be too.   This Other Carriage was created by all the Magna's when the daughter of the Northern King, who was currently losing a war with their neighbouring country, lost her third child in birth and was lost to all help. Her brother, Ignis Magna Brom, tried to cheer her with any bits of distraction he could manage, anything fire could manage. Lively flicks of fire danced about her from morning to night. It was small comfort but it was at least a distraction.   Then he was called away to the warfront with the princess' husband and nobody was left to cheer the bereft princess. She scorned all attempts at cheer, or even rationality, and told them her reality was in the ground with her children. She was human after all, and as such could not be divorced from reality. It was impossible. She was dead too anyway.   The king was near to being sunk in his own depression trying to help her and turned to the other three Magna's. He begged them for an answer to his daughter's slump. After a week of planning and a bit of plotting they came back with a suggestion.   Give her a taste of life inside the Other. The other countries. The other experiences. The other lives. The idea was to get her outside of herself, outside her past. It wouldn't take her past away, nothing could do that, but it could begin a new pattern in her mind. A new pattern that, hopefully, would take her step out of the muck she currently stood in. Her mind had been sunk in this depression for so long it no longer knew how to do anything else.   It was a thought, a suggestion, a hope.   They slaved day and night until it was finished. The Carriage of the Other or the Other Carriage. Pulled by the thick towering horses of the North, this heavy box seemed to float into the royal drive. The bereft princess and her father joined the three Magna's on the wide stone steps of the castle to see this new contraption.   It was a heavy carriage. It had to be! It was pulled by the strongest team in the country and had a ceiling of carved stone. It boggled the princess' rational mind. How was that ceiling staying up? Below the ceiling of stone were walls and benches of warm water and a floor of swift air. The impossible was made possible. This seems strange to us because our reasoning has no room in it for the influence of Light, which, as a rule, makes the impossible possible.   The Princess boggled at this gift. What could it possibly do? How would the skills of the other races cheer her up. Trolls lived inside the stone. Fae floated on the air. Seakin breathed down in the deep waters. Humans used stone for dungeons! Humans fell through the air to horrible deaths! Humans in the deep water, obviously, died! Yes. At this gift the Princess boggled.   If nothing else it gave her back a spark of curiosity. What could it possibly do? The other races and their skills couldn't bring her babies back. Nothing could. Stone, water and air weren't solutions to this problem. Her problem.   "Try it," encouraged the king, "just try it. Even if it doesn't help, it couldn't make things worse."   The princess shrugged, "I have nothing left to lose, I suppose," and stepped into the carriage.   Stepping up into the wall of water with the help of a Footman, the princess became a blur to the other folks on the stairs above. Through the swirling, bubbling water they leaned forward to see the Princess kneel on the airy floor, running her hands across it. Her head lifted to look at the ceiling. She hunched away from the heavy thing and moved her hands to tap the walls.   The breathless spectators on the stairs saw her turn toward them. Her hands went to her hips. She cocked her head to the side. The princess burst into a pillar of flame.   This was the story of the birth of Ignis Magna Jeneta and how they at home knew her brother, the previous Ignis Magna, had been killed at the warfront. After the war was over it was Ignis Magna Jeneta that healed the land of its loss. Destroying the disease and warming frozen hearts. Her Other Coach was always in Jeneta's entourage when she toured her father's country and was always in use. This helping healed her. The Other Coach had fulfilled its purpose.

Questions
1. What will happen if it isn't recharged by the Magna's? Will the floor dissipate, the walls splash away and the ceiling fall?   2. How does the Other Carriage know what Other you personally need to experience? The Magna's have no ability to read people's minds, or do they?
