History

Prince of Lionel, Kestrel has always taken the title of "Lord" rather than "Prince" claiming that "he liked it more." Kestrel is an elf thought to be around 600 years old who married into the High King's bloodline when the Lady Gales, Prince of Rellion took him as her husband. After the death of his wife, a human and short-lived comparatively, Kestrel took the title of Lord himself. In a move of either cunning or genuine charity, his 2 sons and 2 daughters were exiled upon reaching adult hood, banished from Deverenia so they could never have aspirations of ascending to his Seat.
His long-term as Prince of Lionel has led to almost nothing noteworthy. Trade using the lanes of Starfall Lake were maintained. Lionel has contributed to exactly zero campaigns against Valadir or Tamalir and Kestrel never made a move to claim lands belonging to the other Princes. Taxes were high, but they never swelled. Draft sentences were maintained, but the Prince's coin was good and Lionel soldiers saw almost no real action, instead serving as highway patrols and local garrisons. 
Similarly, the Church of the Storm and Black Tower were not permitted in Lionel, with Kestrel running his own orphanges and own schooling system. Legend says the Archmage Slayer the Unkind once petitioned the High King to overrule Kestrel's claim to magically talented individuals in his province. It is said this petition simply went unanswered. 
Ultimately, the legacy of Lord Kestrel is... nothing. If the intent was to continue unnoticed, then THAT has been largely successful.
