Funeral Rites of the Accordlands

Given the strange relationship with death and the cycle of reincarnation made possible by the Well, the Accordlands is home to many unique cultural customs when it comes to death and passage to the afterlife.

Tamalir

In Tamalir the rites for the departed involve a ritual burning on personalized pyres with mementos from friends or family. Special concoctions are used in the fire to produce a brilliant, blue flame that acts as a beacon to the Well and facilitates the journey. It is said that this rite really does help the soul reach the Well and break apart faster, meaning that the departed is unlikely to pass on its memories and experiences during reincarnation. Some speculate that this is in fact intended to avoid similar cycles of rebirth that occur in Deverenia and Valadir.   Funerals are often presided by a member of the ruling House, whom offers some words before friends and families speak remembrances. Once the fires die down, the Ash is collected by the family.
