Beginning and End of the Silver Light

As told by the familiar Grixis…

A long, long time ago, much before this world knew of Thunder, there was a group of beings that had forcibly removed from their home, a distant world beset by a terrible creature known as the Endless Dragon. These beings created a plan to leave their home along with their followers, but that is in and of itself a different story.
The land they came to was this one, a place they called Terranoth. It was a barren land when they arrived, but that was a small obstacle, for they were drawn here by a strange melody, a call to them from a source of great power. They were able to use this Font to breathe life back into the land they found; to create a new world for their followers.
The youngest of the Seven, and coincidentally my master, was one who loved building things to improve the lives of his people. Using complicated arcane practices, he, aided by his family, crafted channels that could directly harness this power, which in turn bathed the land in a gentle, silver light. It was this event that led the people to dub them the Bearers of Light.
At this time I ought to explain who the Bearers of Light were…
Lunar, youngest of the Seven and a gifted engineer and craftsman. He was known for his compassion and dedication to his followers.
Luna, the trickster brought music, excitement, and fun to the people. Her followers dedicated themselves to crafting shows and music to bring joy and laughter to their followers.
Howl, the eldest of the three siblings was the protector of the realm. The loss of their homeworld weighed heavily on him, but he dedicated himself to defending his family.
Esper, the outsider had joined them as a refugee herself. Her keen curiosity and boldness caused adventurers to flock to her as they explored new lands.
Meliadoul was Howl’s wife and complementary partner. Where Howl was the physical shield, Melidaoul was the spiritual shield. She counseled and healed the people who had lost their homes.
Twlight, the artist who used Lunar’s silver light to paint the landscape of their new home. Lunar’s childhood friend and confidant, the two’s joint projects brought happiness and prosperity to their people.
Artorias, the most mysterious of the Seven was the one who performed deeds that were dictated by necessity. The legends say it was he who stalled the Dragon and facilitated their escape.
For a long time the Seven created their civilization and flourished. Generations passed and they knew peace. Something happened that has been lost to history, as their newformed lands were once again destroyed and the Seven forced from their new home. Some say the Endless Dragon had finally caught up, while other accounts indicate something far different took place. Either way, this part is lost to history, as the Seven once again gathered their followers and fled their home.
When they returned themselves to these lands, they were surprised to find it claimed by another set of great beings, the Usurpers or so-called Lords of Thunder. It is said they attempted to bargain with the Lords of Thunder so that all of their people would know peace. The Usurpers laughed at such a notion, their selfish ways had turned them into cruel and unyielding beings as the tale says. It was then that Lunar, who had worked so hard for peace, was murdered in cold blood by the Usurpers.
Enraged by the death of their friend and brother, Luna and Twilight swore vengeance and threw themselves into battle, claiming the lives of the Usurpers’ followers as penance for the heartless murder of the beloved Lunar. The savage attacks by the two Bearers of Light was too much for the unorganized Lords of Thunder, forcing them on the defensive and claiming the lives of several of their number. The Lords of Thunder mustered a defense, but it was much too late. The might of Artorias easily quashed the so-called Magnus, greatest of warriors. Likewise the arcane power of Ilvion and Alhana was no match for Luna’s insanity-driven vengeance.
The battle finally ended when the Lords of Thunder decided to sacrifice the world and seal off a part of their lands to deny the Bearers of Light. The Usurpers would have been successful in preserving their miserable lives and hiding within the seal, but Artorias tracked them down to the ritual site, and there was a massive conflict amongst the surviving great beings. When the dust settled every single Lord of Thunder was slain, but they succeeded in completing their ritual, ripping out a piece of their land and sealing it off from all those who would encroach on their domain. This was the Lord of Thunder’s legacy, a land where their ideals would live on in spite of their failures.
I know not what the Bearers are up to now, for I was stuck in this tower in the Usurpers’ lands… but I long for a time when they can once again claim their home.
