The Duke and The Trident- Session 2
General Summary
The Party found themselves inside the keep of Victoro Alabast . Curious to follow their leads, the party met with Victoro Alabast about his break in that happened a few months ago. He reported that his vault had been broken into. He has left the vault untouched since then while he spends some of his time investigating how someone entered in the first place. However, minimal progress has been made on his end due to his other "obligations". While meeting with Victoro, the party deduced that Victoro is a vampire. Victoro gave the party access to the fault as long as they were supervised by the house servants.
While a storm rolled in, the group was given lodging. Investigations led to discovering a hidden personal journal of one of the servants named Caleb. The journal gave insight into Victoro's secret dealings will collectors and other guests as well has his hidden hobby; killing bandits and other criminals to satiate his vampiric nature. The party also discovered the most recent guest named Lady Val did not show up for her expected visit. This was causing distress amongst the house staff, but most of all Victoro.
In the vault, the party discovered that someone had used Dispel Magic scrolls on the warding glyphs and the Infernal Battle Standard was stolen. Furthermore, a pendant of the Silver Scale Militia was found among the glass. While the party investigated, Kronk Bloodtusk created a small henge of magical stones in the vault to empower his sword.
Victoro had asked that the group review anything they find before they head back to The Trident . Victoro let the party that there has been bad blood between the him and The Trident for many years. The party decided to follow up with Jenorah to discuss the possible Silver Scale Militia involvement. In the depths of Keep Alabast, Victoro has a lair in which he "hosts" the bandits or those who move against him. The party decided that Victor should be left to his own vices.
Back in The Fishing Town of Shimstar , Jenorah helps the party look into the Silver Scale Militia and its involvement. Clues led the group to The Fair Leviathan; the temple of Shimstar. Drivezem Rhaltu manages the temple. The temple in turn is where all injured militiamen go for treatment. A militiaman, Telanis Leafwind, had come to the temple for treatment of a strange wound. While finding him in the docks, Telanis, tried to escape by summoning a Water Elemental from a magical wand.
After capturing Telanis, the pary found out that Telanis was taking care of his sister and his nephew after his sister sustained an illness and an injury at the docks. The party discovered that Telanis was manipulated by Braden Dale. Braden to rob Victoro in exchange for funds to pay for a restoration at the temple. Buwaya Sunblood was able to use his magics to heal Telanis's sister of her affliction. The restoration revealed a cursed piece of electrum was placed in her body.
The party decided to head to Braden Dale's home in search for any additional evidence, stolen merch, and the possible location for mysterious woman names Val. In the home, the party discovered details of Braden Dale's jealousy of Zakzuk and Jenorah. What started as a theft to frame the other members of The Trident got out of control as one of the infernal beasts began to take control of Braden. Braden was losing his mind to the imp, Olmog, that was trapped in the Infernal Battle Standard.
Olmog, once he was freed unknowingly by Telanis and Braden, had begun corrupt Braden further. Braden had catured the mysterious woman Val, obtained a Cube of Summoning, and established the alter for Olmog.
The Party went beneath Braden's home through various magical mean and faced Olmog's alter and the aberration that was summoned. The party found the alter that was created using Val and the Infernal Battle Standard as catalysts
The party was able to vanquish the aberration and destroy the alter. Val was set free albeit injured. Olmog had run away as the mists dissipated. Braden had entered the room of the alter as the party was destroying alter. In turn the party subdued Braden Dale while parading him through town on a Floating Disk like a prized trophy. The party deiced to celebrate with the townfolk at the tavern that the mists would not be returning that night.
