Ourada the Rodbreaker

A lashunta aristocrat residing in the ancient homeland of humanity as an ambassador's aide, Ourada Asideltha was one of the few other than the pale elves to heed Shalanna's visions of doom. Seeking to avert them through action rather than mere escape or counsel, he challenged then-Prince Ruadryn to a duel, with myth claiming that Ourada demanded Ruadryn give up his magical staff if he lost, and Ruadryn agreeing to the challenge only if his own prize would be Ourada's very soul. Ourada won the duel, though only narrowly, and both combatants were gravely wounded - Ourada losing an eye to flames, and in turn severing the prince's hand. As he announced his victory to the gathered audience, he snapped the staff in two, later hiding the pieces under safe guard.
While the relic turned out not to be the source of Ruadryn's most terrible powers, the story has become an inspiration to the lashunta nonetheless, with Ourada often lauded as an example of the duty to risk all to prevent further corruption of the land.
