Cloamir the Loyal

A respected commander of the kingdom now known as Deadland, said to once have been Ruadryn's best friend and right hand, and to have counseled the mage-king to restraint and patience. Legends say he remained at Ruadryn's side and attempted to steer him from his mistakes until the royal palace itself was collapsing and the young king refused to seek shelter, and that even then he left only to save others.
Cloamir has long been considered largely responsible for the survival of humanity. Upon the second wave of arcane blight being unleashed on the land by Ruadryn's folly, he is said to have rallied the survivors to band together to escape, perhaps having used knowledge of the king's plans to prepare for the worst in advance.
Assembling military and civilian recruits into a coherent force in hours, he was able to lead his people to the border of the mountains, at which point most stories say he urged them ahead without him while he stayed to fight to the death alongside Shiroko and other defenders, but a few others, particularly among the dwarves, say he joined the settlers of Shanh Duleiel instead. Some historians contend that the latter is probable on the basis that Mydaiel's leadership could have overshadowed his own in record, or perhaps that the two are one and the same, but it remains a less common telling, particularly in Shanh Duleiel itself.
