The Traveler's Rest

Exterior

  • Architecture:
The Traveler’s Rest is a sturdy, two-story building made from weathered stone and warm, dark wood. Its timber-framed upper story juts slightly over the ground floor, supported by decorative brackets carved with motifs of leaves and vines. A wrought-iron sign swings above the entrance, bearing the inn’s name and a depiction of a backpack and walking staff.
  • Entrance:
Double wooden doors, adorned with brass handles and a small glass pane etched with a map motif, welcome patrons. Lanterns flanking the door illuminate the entrance warmly, even on the darkest nights.
  • Surroundings:
Located on the edge of the bustling Market Square, the inn’s proximity to Silverhold’s main thoroughfare ensures a steady flow of visitors. A small stable and courtyard to the side cater to travelers with mounts or wagons.

Interior

The Common Room

  • Layout:
The common room is a large, open space filled with long tables and sturdy chairs, perfect for travelers to gather and share stories. A massive stone hearth dominates one wall, with a fire burning brightly, regardless of the season.
  • Ambiance:
The room is cozy and inviting, filled with the hum of conversation, the clink of tankards, and the occasional strum of a lute. Sconces on the walls and a central chandelier provide a warm, golden glow.
  • Decor:
The walls are adorned with maps, old adventuring gear, and trophies donated by travelers over the years—ranging from faded pennants to the gleaming tooth of a defeated wyvern.

Bar and Kitchen

  • The bar is made of polished mahogany, with rows of mugs hanging on hooks above it. Behind the bar, shelves display an impressive collection of ales, wines, and spirits, some local and others exotic.
  • The kitchen, visible through a pass-through window, is always bustling, with Oren or his staff preparing hearty meals that fill the air with mouthwatering aromas.

Guest Rooms

  • Upstairs, the guest quarters are simple yet comfortable. Each room has a sturdy bed with fresh linens, a small table and chair, and a chest for belongings. A woolen rug lies at the foot of each bed for added comfort. The deluxe rooms boast slightly larger beds, curtains for privacy, and better views of the town.

Private Rooms

  • Several smaller rooms are tucked away on the ground floor, available for private meetings or quiet meals. These rooms are furnished with comfortable chairs, a table, and a small fireplace.

Bathhouse

  • Located at the rear of the building, the bathhouse is a small, well-maintained space with individual tubs, hot water, and scented oils for weary travelers.
