Venombloom Orchid
Venombloom Orchid
Type: Poisonous Plant
Environment: Jungles, swamps, or damp caves.
Appearance: A striking orchid with dark purple petals veined in black. Its center is a bright, sickly yellow, and the air around it smells faintly of sweet rot.
Properties & Effects:
Toxic Pollen: When creatures come within 5 feet of the Venombloom Orchid, they must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute.
Harvesting Peril: The plant’s toxic nature makes harvesting difficult. Failing a DC 15 Nature check causes the harvester to be exposed to the pollen (as above).
Alchemical Uses: The orchid’s poison can be refined into a potent toxin (DC 16 crafting check), dealing 3d8 poison damage on a failed saving throw when applied to weapons. Alternatively, the petals can be used to brew an Antitoxin if combined with the right herbs.
