Lafgej

Similarity does not always mean relation, but the wings of the Lafgej are curiously similar to another species on this planet.
Ealda Struvei, assorted notes
Humans and weinadi refer to them as lafgej because it's easier to pronounce, but a more proper spelling would be rrlafgej, to build up a proper Garruw rumble. And it is fitting to use an entirely Garruw name for these animals, since there is a certain resemblance.   They were thought to be extinct for generations and have only recently resurfaced (perhaps literally) in the Agarruta Drei. Most theories put forward that they were in some kind of deep hibernation underground, and it was not until recently that they were awakened.   Ealda Struvei, the first Medistrue of Tholaren Dome, did extensive studies of these creatures. The timeline interestingly puts her studies during a period well within when the lafgej were thought to be extinct.   The lafgej are large scaled, winged creatures that gain at least part of their energy by directly absorbing it from the storm systems that almost continuously circle the planet. They are not nearly as large as the Garruw, and most types of lafgej only have one pair of wings, instead of two like the Garruw. They are clearly not sentient, and will readily attack anything they deem as prey.   As such, as they have resurged, the Garruw have been required to hunt them to prevent them from attacking weinadi communities, since such attacks would likely come back to the Garruw and be blamed on them, which is specifically against the @asay
