Bimele Mouse
Bimele mice are some of the most adorable creatures you will ever see in your life. They are tinted a grayish white in color, typically, have immense ears, and the sweetest eyes. They live in burrows underground. The space between their arms and legs is occupied by a fine membrane that impedes their ability to dig effectively, so they usually live symbiotically with other burrowing animals.
When in danger, they actually take to the sky. Those membranes and their large ears allow them to catch the heavy winds and glide up in the air. They're something of an omen of bad things coming, to see them take flight.
Their sense of danger is unparalleled as they have some kind of enhanced sense that enables them to avoid danger. It is unclear if this is some kind of psychic sense or simply heightened hearing or smell, or some combination of those things. The psychic connection becomes more likely when one considers how they respond to threats in unison, even when some members of the group would have no way of knowing there was a danger.
Bimele are small, naturally, but their hardiness allows them to survive against a host of predators. Their primary escape tactic is to launch themselves into the air and then get thrown around until they have successfully dodged the predator.
Their families can be quite genetically diverse because of this, since their escape tactic can send them far away from their group. Bimele will simply join up with the nearest group, or launch itself in the air again if there are no others nearby.
